Understanding whitening injections
What it is
These are injections given into a vein or a muscle, most commonly of glutathione and sometimes with vitamin C. Glutathione is an antioxidant the body already makes and it does interact with the pathway that produces melanin. That interaction is the whole theory behind the treatment.
What it helps with
People come asking for a lighter overall skin tone. What the published evidence actually supports is modest and temporary, and it is considerably weaker than the marketing around it suggests. For pigmentation with a real diagnosis behind it, such as melasma or sun damage, there are treatments with far better evidence and she will point you towards those instead.
What happens in the session
A drip or an injection given in clinic, taking around twenty to forty minutes, as part of a defined course with review in between rather than an open ended series that simply continues.
How the result comes in
Gradually if at all, and it reverses once you stop. It does not change the skin colour you were born with, and no injection does. Sun exposure will undo whatever change does occur, which is worth weighing before you start.
Worth knowing before you book
This is the treatment on her list she is most direct about. It is not approved by regulators for skin lightening, the evidence is thin, and there are documented harms from unregulated product used outside a clinical setting, including kidney injury and severe skin reactions. She will have that conversation with you first, and she may well recommend something else.
