What it is
Ageing skin is several separate changes happening at once. Collagen thins so the skin loses firmness. Fat pads shrink and shift so the face loses its support. Muscles fold the skin in the same places for decades. Sun damage sits over all of it. Treating one and ignoring the rest is why some results look odd.

What happens in the session

In stages, across months. Some of it shows quickly, some builds slowly as collagen forms, and some of it is about holding ground rather than reversing anything. It is maintained rather than finished, and it is fairer to say that at the start.
Worth knowing before you book
Sun protection and a retinoid do more across ten years than any single procedure will, and she will tell you so even though it is the least interesting advice in the room. If a treatment is not right for you she will say so rather than substitute another one to fill the appointment.
