PRP for Skin in Islamabad

Your own plasma, for face and under-eyes

In plain terms

Understanding PRP for skin

  1. What it is

Platelet rich plasma is made from your own blood. A small sample is taken, spun to concentrate the platelets and the growth factors they carry, and that concentrate is placed back into your skin. Nothing foreign goes in, which is why the risk of an allergic reaction is essentially nil.

  2. What it helps with

Dullness, fine lines, rough texture and thin crepey skin under the eyes. It changes the quality of skin rather than its volume, so it sits well beside other treatments and it is not a substitute for filler where there is a genuine hollow to fill.

  3. What happens in the session

Blood is taken from your arm as it would be for any test, then spun for about ten minutes while numbing cream works. The plasma is injected in small amounts or driven in with microneedling, which is where the nickname vampire facial came from. Around forty five minutes altogether.

  4. How the result comes in

Redness for a day and the occasional small bruise. The change is slow and cumulative, so it is a course of three sessions about a month apart, with the fuller effect visible a month or two after the last. Most people maintain it once or twice a year.

  5. Worth knowing before you book

Because it is made from your own blood, the result depends partly on your general health, and it works less well in heavy smokers and in anaemia. Come hydrated. It is avoided in active infection, in certain blood disorders and while on some blood thinning medication.
